Noah and Mimi met during what was both their 2nd year of graduate school at UAB. Mimi pursuing her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies, and Noah pursuing his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. What started off as matching on a popular dating app led to meeting in person the very next day when they realized their programs were in the same building on campus. Mimi’s best friends eagerly waited with their eyes on the glass door while the pair met on a bench outside. Noah was smitten. He asked to take her out on a proper date later that week where he easily won her heart. He went home and told his mom that “he was gonna marry that girl” and Mimi facetimed her best friends to tell them she was “so in love with that PT boy!”

After becoming official, the pair began their respective clinical years for their graduate programs. Noah worked at UAB hospital, in a skilled nursing facility, and with professional sports teams based in Birmingham including the Birmingham Bulls (hockey) and Legion (soccer). Mimi was everywhere from the operating room to primary care clinic taking care of patients and delivering babies in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Houston, Texas. Between the late nights and early mornings the pair spent time with friends out and about in Birmingham, took trips to see Mimi’s family in Florida, visited their favorite spots in New Orleans, and made it down to Mobile for a South Alabama football game! Who said you can't have fun in grad school?!

By the time graduation rolled around in December of 2022, both Mimi and Noah had secured their dream jobs. Mimi with the Medical ICU at UAB Hospital and Noah with Therapy South at an outpatient PT clinic. They cherished the time they spent together after long work days and appreciated the empathy that came with understanding each other’s field. They also moved into their first apartment together, accompanied by Noah’s precious lab/golden retriever mix “Nola”! 2023 and the start of 2024 was full of forming great friendships in their newfound communities, a birthday barbie bar crawl, lots of beach volleyball, two more trips to New Orleans, and a UAB PT reunion when two of Noah’s best friends got married in Gulfport, MS. Mimi even caught the bouquet *wink wink* This season was soooo special!

In March of 2024, Mimi and Noah embarked on their next big adventure - buying a home together. Little did Mimi know, Noah had also found the perfect diamond ring. He, alongside their families and best friends, hatched a plan that their designated planner and super sleuth wouldn’t be able to see coming. Mimi’s family had planned to come up to Birmingham to celebrate her Gram’s birthday in April like they did every year and Noah had a volleyball tournament that day. Everyone executed their cover story perfectly, so she had no idea anything was brewing when she threw her hair in a ponytail after a long day in the sun and headed to “birthday dinner” at the family’s air bnb. With some perfectly timed text messages to cause delays, Mimi and Noah found themselves at the overlook she had been begging to see for the past few years. It wasn’t until Noah reached into his blazer pocket that she realized the moment she had prayed for since that first date was coming true. After some happy tears and lots of giggles Mimi and Noah headed to the air bnb where the next surprise was awaiting - their best friends and family gathered to celebrate over bbq, chicken fingers, and Edgar’s Cake. It was the best, most special, and intentionally planned night. Mimi and Noah haven't stopped smiling since - thinking about the love they share, how grateful they are for their people, and all of the blessings still to come in the life they are building together.
